Portrait of Kota

Kota Smith is a creative technologist who realized his life was too short to clock in and out just to do the same thing for years. During his time working in Apple retail, he kept meeting people doing genuinely cool things with technology. Designers. Developers. Filmmakers. Founders. It stuck with him. He was fascinated by what people were building, even though he did not feel like he had his own creative medium yet. Later, after working across tech support, recruiting, and other high-pressure customer roles, he came to a simple conclusion. He just wanted to make stuff for the sake of making it.

So he started tinkering. He built his own website from scratch, bought his own domain, and avoided shortcuts because he wanted to understand how things actually worked. He started dabbling in code just to have something to work on. Blender came from a similar place. It gave him a way to express ideas visually without needing a degree or expensive software, and watching a render slowly come together scratches a very specific, satisfying itch. This site, along with a growing archive of renders, web experiments, and half-finished projects, is simply a record of what he is building as he goes.
